Richard was a journalist for four decades and the author of four books, Black Valley: The Life and Death of Fannie Sellins; Prohibition Pittsburgh; Wicked Pittsburgh; and The Mayor of Shantytown: The Life of Father James Renshaw Cox. Richard is currently working on books on jazz and McCarthyism.
